3D body measurement to customized apparel production
Mass customization - today
a reality - is now a fast - spreading global phenomenon. Responding
to the needs of mass personalized or customized apparel production,
Lectra has integrated the state-of-the-art technologies developed
by its exclusive partner, Human Solutions, the world leader
in body measurement and 3D human body imaging, into its own
CAD/CAM software and equipment. With the Body Scanner, anyone
can obtain his virtual electronic double and a complete set
of his body measurements in under 10 seconds. This technology
is opening up new horizons for our firm, both for specialty
store sales and for large users of uniforms such as Official
clothes, Work clothes, Gastro program, banks, police departments,
airlines, etc. |

Scanning, the
gateway to the digital world
The 3D BodyScanner consists of four columns each including
two CCD cameras plus one class 1 eye-safe laser. The units
are fixed onto the floor. The scanning time requires only
8 seconds from top to bottom of the human body. For this purpose,
the customer has to undress and is standing in a natural upright
posture. Underwear or tight sportswear such as Lycra or aerobic
gear is worn during scanning. The system captures the surface
of the human body and produces a highly precise three-dimensional
representation within the computer the so-called Digital
Twin of the person scanned. The BodyScanner serves as gateway
to the digital world. As soon as the customer walks out of
the scanner the digital twin remains in the computer and is
now used as a virtual. Taking measurements is now completely
separated from the physical presence of the human person and
can be done any time anywhere simply by sending the file via
Internet.

From 3D body measurement to sewing

1) Body
measurement in boutique
In less than 12 seconds the BodyScanner, which is installed
in our boutique, scans and memorizes the customer body volume
and then calculates his/measurements and postures. All measurements
required for the relevant garments are extracted from the
3D scan. The virtual body shape is available after the customer
leaves the boutique.

2) Data
processing - FIT NET Server
A simple and complete process.
The customer is in your shop; he selects a style and its relevant
options, his measurements are taken with the 3D BodyScanner:
These choices and measurements are sent to the production
site via internet and automatically processed by the FitNet
server (creation of the altered garment and production of
the markers). 3D BodyScanner is to be used by stationary fashion
retailers, clothing manufacturers, mail order businesses,
private labels and brands and e-commerce or service providers. |
